About Us
Who we are
Coast and Cedar Youth Society started on a beach, not in a boardroom. We are four people from around Greater Vancouver, who first met volunteering at cleanups on Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver and White Rock Beach in White Rock. The same faces kept showing up, and what struck us was how many teenagers wanted real conservation work: these teenagers weren't waiting to be told the coast was worth protecting. They already knew. So we built an organization around our vision: a British Columbia where every teen who loves this coast, these rivers, these forests, has a real way to fight for them — leading the work themselves, growing into the kind of stewardship that lasts a lifetime. We believe the next generation of this province's conservation movement is already here, ready, and just waiting for the door to open.
Why Our Work Matters
Environmental stewardship is the cornerstone of a sustainable future. By engaging youth in the protection of our coastal areas and forests, we are not just preserving nature; we are cultivating the next generation of leaders. Add your story here to elaborate on the critical impact of your organization's work in Metro Vancouver and beyond.

Meet the Team

Brent W.
Organizer
There's something about the stretch of BC coast — the tide, the trees, the way the water changes color by the hour. Protecting it feels less like a cause and more like taking care of somewhere I actually belong.

Mandy Z.
Teen Leader
Environmental news can feel overwhelming if you just read about it. What changed things for me was realizing I didn't have to fix everything — just show up and do the actual work in front of me, with people who felt the same way.

Jamé W.
Teen Leader
I grew up spending most of my summers outside in Nanaimo— on the water, in the woods, wherever I could get to. Protecting places like this isn't abstract to me; it's protecting the backdrop of my whole childhood.

Eileen C.
Coordinator
I think about the kids who'll grow up in BC in twenty years and what kind of coastline and forests they'll actually get to know. That's reason enough for me to do something now instead of assuming someone else will.
